Each team receives TWO one minute time outs in the first half and THREE one minute timeouts in the second half. ONE additional minute is provided during extra time.
Overtime will be 5 minutes long with the final minute of stop time, followed by the first team to score 4 points if a second overtime is required.

40 point mercy rule - Score is called and the GAME WILL CONTINUE without keeping score.
All teams have the option to play man to man or a zone defence.
Any player with 5 fouls is out of the game. 30 seconds will be provided to substitute the fouled out player.
Tip off to start the game. Alternating possession at half court to begin the second half.
If the court line has a three point line, the three point shot rule is in effect.
Ensure all participants remove jewellery, bobby pins, etc. before games. All participants must wear shorts with no pockets or else they will be unable to play. Stitching pockets closed is acceptable.
Arrive to games on time, and change into uniforms to begin warm-up. Warm ups will be 10 minutes long starting at 4:00 PM.
If a team does not show up 15 minutes after 4:00 PM, a forfeit will be given unless competing teams and referees decide to wait longer.
The boys and girls will be using a size 6 (28.5) ball for the basketball season.
At times, the official may not show up for the game. If this occurs, please have another staff member or coach referee the game with the agreement of both teams. Also, notify Abdullah Elladen when this occurs so we are not charged for these games.
For safety purposes, all host teams must provide adequate padding on the walls and or stage behind the backboards of their gymnasium.
Sportsmanship
Please call your opponents 10 days in advance if you need to reschedule a game on a date mutually agreeable to all teams. If a game is cancelled due to weather, it is up to the coaches to reschedule within 72 hours. Games not rescheduled will result in a forfeit for all teams involved.
In any of these cases above, Abdullah Elladen must be notified ASAP to inform the referees, so we can cancel or reschedule referee dates.
No parents are allowed to talk to referees or coaches during game play.
All players dressed for the game must play and must come off the floor at some point during the game. EXCEPTION: When there are no substitutes available to “sub” a player off.
Coaches are encouraged to focus on fun and skill improvement for both teams, rather than competition.
Fair play and good sportsmanship are a necessity.
Shaking hands after a game is required, as well as thanking the referees is also encouraged by coaches and captains.
Please deal with all complaints directly with the person, however, unresolved issues should be brought to the commissioner.
Standings/Scores
Winning teams must record scores on the CAAA.online website within 48 hours of the game being played. THIS IS NECESSARY to ensure playoffs run smoothly and efficiently.
Ranking for playoffs is as follows:
Wins and losses. 2 points for each win
In case of a tie in points, we will revert to the winner of head to head, and then for and against scores.
All teams qualify for the playoffs.
